Paris Rosemont: 4 Performance Pieces
Paris will be performing as part of Rude Poets! A Night of Naughty Poetry
Paris Rosemont is a Sydney-based Asian-Australian poet. She is delighted that her poetry finds eclectic homes, from thought-provoking literary journals to kooky underground Glaswegian zines! Some of the publications Paris’s poetry features in include: Verge Literary Journal, FemAsia Magazine, Red Room Poetry’s ‘Admissions’ and Live Encounters Poetry & Writing: Special Australian Edition.
Paris won the New England Thunderbolt Poetry Prize 2022, was shortlisted for the Hammond House Publishing International Literary Prize 2022 and Born Writers’ Award 2023, as well as being longlisted for the Heroines/Joyce Parkes Award 2022 and Liquid Amber Poetry Prize 2023.
Paris is grateful to have been awarded a number of creatively enriching residencies, including two upcoming international residencies: Atelier Artist-in-Residence Ireland 2024 and Kathmandu International Artist in Residence 2024. Previous residencies include the Varuna Shanghai Lamplight Residency 2023 and Varuna Emerging Writers’ Residency 2022.
Paris’s niche is performance poetry. She has performed her original poetry in cabaret shows including Fierce Violets and Mad Bitches Inc. at the Sydney Fringe Festival, Poetry Jukebox Live (an immersive one-woman poetry performance commissioned by Randwick City Council), Short + Sweet Illawarra Festival 2023 (where she wrote, directed and performed a monologue interweaving poetic and theatrical elements) and the groundbreaking world premiere of Slam Messiah at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta in 2022, where she was commissioned to write and perform original poetic works in response to movements of Handel’s Messiah, alongside a 60-voice choir and chamber orchestra.
Paris has been a Living Stories Writing Competition judge for two years running and teaches creative writing and public speaking via workshops and private tuition. She is currently a WestWords/Copyright Agency Fellow 2023.
Paris’s debut poetry collection, Banana Girl, will be published in late 2023.
