Poetry from Agitation Hill & Brendan Ryan

Brendan Ryan 3 Poems

Poetry from Agitation Hill is the most recent version of an event that has been running in Castlemaine, Victoria, for 20 years at various venues. A formula has been in place for many years that both poet & audience seem to enjoy on the first Friday of every month, barring the unexpected. A feature reader reading for 20 minutes, followed by a QnA involving the audience, whether present or on line. There is also an exclusively on line version via zoom mid month. The session concludes with the poet’s encore. All over in 1 hour. Local. state & international poets are featured. This month in conjunction with Sonic Poetry Festival, Poetry from Agitation Hill is featuring Brendan Ryan.

Brendan Ryan lives in Australia. His poetry, reviews and essays have been published in literary journals and newspapers, including The Best Australian Poems series (Black Inc), Contemporary Australian Poetry (Puncher and Wattman) and The Anthology of Australian Prose Poetry.  His poem, Blister Country, was included in A Single Tree by Don Watson.  Critical essays on his poetry have appeared in The Age and Fishing for Lightning (UQP) by Sarah Holland-Batt. The author of seven collections of poetry, his memoir, Walk Like a Cow, was published in 2020 by Walleah Press. His latest collection of poetry, Feldspar, published by Recent Work Press is out now.
