Danksta Downunder – Poem

Spoken Word @ Bar Oussou open mic
AT THE LIBRARY OF INVENTED LIVES
.
Until there is no more renewal
and the last loan of life is overdue
the Library browser is reading fuel
with invented lives we look,up to.
Artists, dreamers, creators of all
kinds who fire up our imagination.
Thinkers, writers, poets who call
us all in to be aware of inspiration.
For me life began at three years old
when Mum Cora taught me to read
and books insulated against the cold
and terminated in my mind like seed.
Dad Jock believed in no censorship
and being free to follow curiosity
and find stories that offer mentorship
while setting out towards virtuosity.
Now on the cusp of semi-seniority
having devoured thousands of tomes
and faced off futility and obscurity
all that I’ve been transmitted to poems
until there’s no more time for any word
and no pages left for me to turn towards
when straying off behind the daily herd
as the last line ends the story of rewards.
Reading on is reinvention
taken to the next dimension
