Rochford Street Review was saddened to hear of the recent death of Perth Poet Ron Okely.

Writing on the WA Poets Inc FB page SP Mitchell paid the following tribute:

Today the Perth poetry community mourns the passing of one of our most beloved poets, Ron Okely. Ron was born in Bassendean 1929, married in 1954 and lived with his wife and family in regional WA before moving to Maddington. His poems reflected appreciation of family and friends, his experiences in country Western Australia and as a Social Worker in Royal Perth Hospital. Forever spritely, Ron was always a champion, attending Perth Poetry Club often and reading his charismatic verse with vigour and wry smile.

Rest in power Ron, and thank you for your words
