On International Womens’ Day 2021, Rochford Street Review is proud to profile Morgaine van Wingerden, a young Blue Mountains poet, whose poem ‘The Waitlist’ gives a searing insight into the terrible consequences of having been sexually assaulted.

With the lid coming off the toxic cauldron of male entitlement and sexual violence that has been brewing in Canberra and the wider Australian society for years, womens’ stories are more important than ever. Morgaine’s performance is astounding and as Issue 31 loads you will see more of her work. Rochford Street Review and Rochford Press wish to stand as allies to creative women whose stories need to be listened to. We are in awe of  the extraordinary bravery of Grace Tame, Britanny Higgins, and Chanel Contos, who are challenging the physical and mental abuse they have suffered by powerful men or entitled boys.
