Rochford Street Review was saddened to learn of the death of our friend, poet, and fellow Blue Mountains resident Louise Wakeling on Sunday the 9th of August. We will publish a tribute to Louise over the coming weeks but for now we would like to share the details of the celebration of her incredible life as announced by her family.
It is with great sadness that Louise’s family informs her friends across the country and around the world that she passed away on Sunday the 9th of August.
This sudden loss has affected us all deeply, but we are grateful she passed peacefully, listening to music she loved, and with a smile on her face.
We hope you can join us in celebrating her incredible life on Wednesday the 19th of August at 11am AEST at Leura Memorial Gardens, Lot 1-17 Kitchner Road, Leura.

Louise was a member of DiVerse, who transcribed visual art into poetry. For many years she contributed her time and talent to making the group a success. Her many poems always had an insight that was unique and appealing. I and all the other members of DiVerse will miss her deeply. – Robert Kennedy
Louise was such a talented, insightful poet and writer. She was also a generous, integral part of the Round Table Poets group, which I have been fortunate enough to participate in over recent years. Her advice, feedback and opinions were so highly valued. I will miss her as a poet, a mentor and a friend. – Kate Maxwell
Louise taught in the English Faculty at Baulkham Hills High School for many years prior to her retirement in 2016. She was a diligent, sharp, extremely clever and perceptive teacher who provided deep understanding and skills to her students. Louise was a highly valued member of the English Faculty.
